The Union of Municipalities of Turkiye (UMT) continues to support road construction, infrastructure, sewerage and landscaping projects under its “Joint Service Model,” launched to strengthen the service capacity of local governments and enhance solidarity among municipalities. As the model expands to include new municipalities, work has been completed at several locations, while implementation continues in various regions.
Under the Joint Service Model, implemented in cooperation between UMT and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), technical teams, personnel and construction machinery were initially provided to selected municipalities in the provinces of Bolu, Düzce, Kastamonu, Bartın, Zonguldak, Karabük and Sinop.
Most recently, a protocol was signed with Kütahya Municipality, marking another step towards expanding the model. The protocol was signed by Kütahya Mayor Eyüp Kahveci and UMT Secretary General Suat Yıldız.
The activities, carried out in line with the needs of municipalities, aim to open roads designated in zoning plans, improve infrastructure and public works services, clean sewerage networks, carry out road maintenance and repairs, and enhance public spaces.

Stronger Municipalities, More Effective Services
The Joint Service Model aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination among municipalities, promote the shared use of technical resources, ensure more efficient utilisation of public resources, and enable local services to be delivered more rapidly and sustainably.
Based on the shared use of technical teams, personnel and construction machinery required by municipalities, the model is intended to be expanded to other regions across Turkiye in light of the results achieved.
