Türkiye and EU Cities Met for a “Green Future”

The opening event of the Town Twinning - II (Green Future) Grant Program (TTGS-II) between Türkiye and the European Union (EU), of which the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB) is the main beneficiary, was held in Ankara on November 2.

Representatives of partner institutions from the Directorate for EU Affairs, the EU Delegation to Türkiye, the Spanish Embassy, The Central Finance and Contracts Unit of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, and local governments attended the grant application training event which will continue for three days.

The opening speeches of the program were made by the TBB Secretry General Dr. Hayri Baraçlı, Head of Civil Society, Fundamental Rights, Judiciary and Home Affairs Section of the EU Delegation to Turkiye Alexander Fricke, Spanish Embassy Advisor Gilberto Terente Fernandez, Head of the Central Finance and Contracts Unit Barbaros Murat Köse and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director General of European Union and Project Implementation Bülent Özcan.

The program, which supports 26 projects focusing on environmental protection and combating climate change, aims to strengthen communication between societies and support the European Union accession process at the local level.

Following the opening speeches, three-day grant management and visibility training for grant beneficiaries started.
