During the European Mobility Week, which is celebrated every year between September 16-22, with the theme of 2023 being "Discover Your City - Save Your Future ENERGY!", Turkey broke the all-time participation record with the participation of 670 municipalities. The European Mobility Week, organized as part of the "European Union Support for Sustainable Urban Mobility in Cities Project" (SKUP Turkey), encourages the spread of sustainable urban mobility methods and aims to make countries more livable cities. The closing of the week took place in Istanbul-Eyüpsultan with a cycling tour, a walk and a reception where plaques of appreciation were presented.
The European Mobility Week was closed by UMT with a "Car Free Day Event" in Eyüpsultan. The European Mobility Week Car Free Day Event hosted by UMT was attended by UMT President and Mayor of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Yücel Yılmaz, Istanbul Deputy Governor Mustafa Asıf Alkan, Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, Mayor of Eyüpsultan Deniz Köken and the bicycle group. The participants pedaled from the Eyüpsultan Pier to the Authentic Bazaar and then walked through the historical area until the TBB's building near the coast. The reception took place in the garden of UMT's Istanbul Office in Eyüpsultan and ended with the presentation of plaques of appreciation to the project owners.
