Political Committee Meeting of CEMR Took Place In Tbilisi

The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) Political Committee meeting took place on 6-7 June 2023 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. The meeting was attended by a delegation consisting of Mayor of Tokat Eyüp Eroğlu, Mayor of Kırıkkale Mehmet Saygili, Mayor of Şanlıurfa Siverek Ayşe Çakmak, Ankara Keçiören Council Member Cemal Baş, Deputy Secretary General of Union of Municipalities of Türkiye Ahmet Kazan and Foreign Relations Experts from Union of Municipalities of Türkiye.

On the first day of the meeting, the political affairs of CEMR, the priorities of the CEMR President and Secretary General and the approval of the financial accounts of the previous year were on the agenda. In addition to these topics, the agenda included a thematic discussion on "city-to-city/region-to-region cooperation in the era of poly-crises: experience and perspectives". At the end of the meeting, the delegation attended the reception hosted by the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG) and Tbilisi Municipality.

On the second day of the meeting, CEMR's 2023 work program and position papers on circular economy, cohesion policy and electricity market were discussed. Afterwards, the members were informed about Ukraine and international relations, PLATFORMA activities were presented and the 2023 work program was discussed.

The next Political Committee meeting is scheduled to take place in Prague in November.
