The kick-off meeting of the “Today’s Youth, Future Jobs Project”
financed under the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance III
(IPA III), where the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (UMT) is the end
beneficiary and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is the
implementing entity, was hosted by the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye on 29
March 2023.
Representatives from the European Union Delegation, Ministry of Labor and
Social Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs, United
Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Union of Municipalities of Türkiye attended
the kick-off meeting.
The project, which was created to prepare young people for the
professions of the future with municipalities and to develop their skills
related to the 4.0 industry, in order to contribute to smart city solutions
that facilitate the lives of citizens in complementary fields such as
informatics, robotic coding, e-transformation, digital marketing, social
innovation and design-oriented thinking. It aims to make the future skills of
young people solution-oriented and to create value-added products for the
technology market. The project budget is 7.9 million Euros.
After the opening speeches of UMT Deputy Secretary General Kayhan Özüm, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Miodrag Dragisic and Head of EU Delegation Department Laurent Gurirkinger, UNDP Türkiye and UMT experts made presentations on information about the project, selection criteria and current developments. After receiving the opinions and suggestions of the representatives of the institutions, the meeting was finalized and the transition to the inception phase was made officially.
