The 27th Meeting of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) Working Group Türkiye and the 7th Enlargement Day meetings were held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, on 6-7 July.
The meeting started with the opening speech of Working Group Türkiye President Jens Christian Gjesing, was attended by Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Hilmi Güler, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yücel Yılmaz, Toroslar Mayor Atsız Afşin Yılmaz, and Ünye Mayor Hüseyin Tavlı on behalf of the Republic of Türkiye. Members of the council were also present.
At the meeting, topics such as current developments between Türkiye and the European Union (EU), the Russia-Ukraine crisis, EU enlargement processes and the refugee crisis were discussed. In addition, since this year is declarated as 2022 the Year of Youth, Türkiye's common policies with the EU towards youth were discussed.
