The Union of Municipalities of Turkiye (UMT) hosted a consultation meeting on Circular No. 2025/4, titled “Preparation and Inspection of Maps and Plans Subject to Registration”, at the Union’s headquarters.
Chaired by UMT Deputy Secretary General Ulaş Altun, the meeting focused on evaluating the applicability of the Circular issued by the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre and its potential impact on municipal services.
In his opening remarks, Altun emphasized that UMT serves as an umbrella organization and noted that they closely monitor legislative changes affecting municipalities, as well as engage in lobbying activities on their behalf. Highlighting the increasing number of recent legislative changes concerning municipalities, he explained that commissions established within the Union are addressing technical issues such as legal matters, zoning, and firefighting services.
“We have structured a highly inclusive framework in response to requests from municipalities,” Altun stated, expressing his hope that the meeting would be productive and help streamline processes.
During the meeting, Urban Planner Dr. Ayşe Ünal delivered a presentation outlining the details of the Circular. Participants, including representatives from municipalities and central government agencies, shared their views and discussed the implications of the regulation.
