United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Regional Organization (UCLG-MEWA), one of the 8 regional organizations of the UCLG World Organization, carries out its activities from its headquarters in Istanbul.
UCLG-MEWA has more than 100 members from Afghanistan, Bahrain, Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, including local governments, national associations and international local government organizations. MEWA carries out its activities for the cities and local governments in the region based on the principles of democracy, human rights, autonomous local governance, international solidarity, accountability, transparency and sustainable development.
