Barrier-Free Cities Project Implementation Competition

The aim of the "Barrier-Free Cities Project Implementation Competition" organized by the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye for municipalities is to develop initiatives that will enable disabled individuals to access all urban services without encountering restrictions, difficulties and obstacles in their daily lives, without needing any assistance, and to raise awareness at the citizen level.

The announcement of the competition was made on 03 December 2020, on World Disability Day. The deadline for first stage applications of the competition, which consists of two stages, has been determined as March 31, 2021.

The Barrier-Free Cities Project Implementation Competition Award Ceremony, organized in cooperation with the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (UMT) and the Ministry of Family and Social Services, was held on January 7, 2022 at Pendik Municipality Yunus Emre Culture and Art Center.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife Emine Erdoğan, UMT and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, then Minister of Family and Social Services Derya Yanık and mayors of many provinces and districts attended the ceremony.
